SN'F is now welcoming all underclassmen, not just seniors! Juniors, feel free to contact us if you are interested in our organization.

We are changing up SNF because we realized it was hard for some seniors to keep up with their freshmen. Some of the freshmen did not want to be in S'nf, and others did not even come to Coronado for high school.
As the new leaders, we felt education was more beneficial to a child and the community. So instead of being mentors, we decided to also do tutoring and focus on the kids that go to tutoring instead of a select group of kids from middle school. We want our mentors to not only focus on one child, but on several from different age groups.
Requirements/ Info:
-We require 3 hours of tutoring a month and must attend to at least 2 outside activities.
-Tutoring can be done in the classrooms already offer tutoring sessions (Pictures of the schedules and respective subjects are posted below)
-You are not required to tutor in one subject only. Subjects offered are: Spanish, Math, English, and Science. Feel free to go to whichever one you choose.
-We will have "Outside activities" every month, which are basically little parties for you guys and for the kids that go to tutoring. They will have food and activities, but will be either after school or on the weekends.

For more information, please contact us via email or facebook.
Tutoring schedules are posted below:
**Please note the different classrooms for morning and after school tutoring**

GREAT NEWS S n' F members! :) Thanks to our current generation leaders, Alma Sue Prieto, Jasmine Esquivel, Rebecca Gerardo, Jean Otero, and of course yours truly, our Creative Action Service presentation with IB was incredibly successful. This event took place on April 19th, in the Coronado High School library and was open to only current and new leaders to attend. The current leaders presented the S n' F project to a board of El Paso community members including the Rotary Club of El Paso's president, a PR lady from Central Office, and a dedicated Rotary member/teacher  at our school. The new leaders were invited to watch us present so they could get a deeper feel for our project and learn formally of its origins. Our presentation resulted in the Rotary President agreeing to support us by funding S n' F future generations. That means, future S n' F leaders won't have to go through as difficult of financial struggles as we did this year to accomplish S n' F goals. So congratulations to them and to S n' F!

LONG LIVE S n' F!!! :D

I couldn't be prouder of being a part of this fantastic organization and the experiences I encountered throughout the journey will remain forever priceless in my heart. :)
This is one of the last blog posts I will write before I pass down my duties to Genne Liu, the next webmistress. D,:

TO BE CONTINUED...

ALSO DON'T FORGET TO LIKE US ON FACEBOOK AND TO SPREAD THE WORD.

Dear S n' F Leaders (That means you six!) DON'T FORGET, OUR OFFICIAL CAS PRESENTATION IS TOMORROW IN THE LIBRARY FROM LUNCH TO 5TH PERIOD! :) Please attend and dress in formal business attire.  Do not worry about attendance, we will excuse you!

First of all, I would like to commend everyone on their performance at Morehead Middle School last Friday during the field trip.  The turn out was quite successful, we were only missing two people, who were away on a trip to Seattle.  NOTE: IF YOU ARE ONE OF THESE PEOPLE, YOU MUST SEE MERCEDES ASAP UPON YOUR RETURN TO EL PASO TO GET INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR MENTEE. IF YOU DO NOT, THEN YOU WILL BE DISMISSED.
It is absolutely CRUCIAL for you to have exchanged contact info with your mentee already and if for some reason (ran out of time) you were unable to, then please contact MERCEDES ASAP as well to find out what you should do immediately.
The contact info you are supposed to exchange should include the following:
-Name
-Phone Number (Can they text?)
-Facebook Name if they have one (If spelled differently from their real name)
-Email address
-ID number
*IF YOU DO NOT REMEMBER WRITING THIS INFO DOWN WITH YOUR MENTEE FOR ONE OF US LEADERS, THEN GO SEE MERCEDES ASAP.

***Remember, the summer is an EXTREMELY IMPORTANT period of time in this program. YOU MUST MAINTAIN CONTACT WITH YOUR MENTEE throughout the summer or else this program will not be effective. We do not want the same thing to happen again!***

I was extremely impressed at the turn out of the training session we held for our new mentors yesterday afternoon. The training was based on a originally religious curriculum Mrs. Norma conducted for youth groups around El Paso but was modified to suit the educational needs of our program. It took around two hours to complete and all its participants were willing to learn from us. Everyone had such an eager attitude and asked many questions regarding the program and situations that may arise.

According to Ms. Martin, our new secretary who was in charge of taking attendance, we were only missing 8 people out of the 35, which is surprisingly good for a first time official event in the new generation. For those 8 who missed this important event, I cannot stress how much it is  REQUIRED OF YOU TO PLEASE WATCH AND EXAMINE THE EVENTS IN THE VIDEO CAREFULLY, TAKE YOUR OWN NOTES (or borrow a friend's) AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BEFORE THE MOREHEAD FIELD TRIP! We will have the edited version of the video Mr. Abeyta, our new public relations chief, recorded yesterday up and ready for your use sometime in the next couple of days so KEEP CHECKING THE WEBSITE AND FACEBOOK for details and updates!  ALSO REMEMBER TO PICK UP THE PAPERS YOU DIDN'T RECEIVE AT THE MEETING! Please promote/share our fanpage with all your friends to get the word out about this amazing program!

* If one of your friends who is in S n' F but has NOT LIKED the fan page to follow it on Facebook, we highly recommend you to encourage them to do so.

If you're a selected mentor of the 2012-2013 generation of S n' F, (the list is now posted on the door to t it is absolutely MANDATORY for you to attend the training session that we, the current leaders are hosting this Wednesday (tomorrow: April 4th) in the cafeteria after school from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Please be prompt so we can begin as soon as possible. The faster we begin, the quicker we will get done. You will not need to bring anything in particular except a binder/folder for you to place your future S n' F papers in for safe-keeping  and a pen/pencil to take notes if needed.
* DON'T FORGET WE HAVE A MEETING IN THE ART ROOM (DOWNSTAIRS A-9) TODAY DURING LUNCH FOR THE NEW MENTORS. Thank-you for your cooperation and hope to see you there!

***Important Note***
If you know for certain that you CANNOT make it to this training, then you must notify one of us ASAP with a legitimate reason, or this absence WILL NOT be excused and may cause you to be removed from S n' F as a member. However, if you ARE absent, you are REQUIRED to watch the training video that we will record and take notes on it. Also make sure you pick up the paper materials that you missed collecting from us during the training:
-flow chart
-reflection paper
-aim paper
-code of ethics
-basic guidelines

Mentee and Mentor forms (logs) will be available in the library on Monday (April 2nd) at your convenience. Mentors need to pick one up and fill it out by Thursday (April 5th) at the latest. But PLEASE TRY AND TURN THESE IN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. :) THANK-YOU AND HAVE FUN MENTORING!

Today, the current generation of S n' F leaders met at Alma Sue's dad's office's conference room to discuss the upcoming training of the new generation of leaders and mentors next Wednesday after school in  the cafeteria from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. We outlined the training process and assigned roles to everyone. We also discussed the bake sale fundraising event we are hosting on April the 9th to raise money for the field trip to Insights Museum.
